About the Author

The idea of creating this blog came to me in between two college classes while I was eating lunch. The notion behind Run On Organic is to spread knowledge, inspiration, and incredible products that contribute to an organic & healthy way of living.

I was born in West Palm Beach, Florida to two unbelievably awesome parents. I lived in the town of Jupiter until about age 10. I have one older brother who is phenomenally talented. We are equally goofy and free spirited, as you can tell in the 2nd photo. My family has three dogs who are nearly considered children! :)

I went back to Jupiter in the summer of 2011 for the first time in several years and revisited the house I grew up in. It was nostalgic. 152 Greentree Circle.

If you look closely, you can see the Jupiter Lighthouse right on top of my head! I took this during my visit in 2011.

I’ve always said that my favorite place to be in the world is Carlin Park. I have such fond memories of playing there as a child.

Moved to Texas following Dad’s job, where I found my niche: volleyball. Got recruited upon graduation to play outside hitter for Rutgers University.

I loved my time in New Jersey but it didn’t feel like home, which brought me back down south to Texas.

I graduated from Midwestern State University in June 2012. I received my Bachelor of Science in Sport & Fitness Management. My parents (who now live in Indiana) were able to drive down to be there! I don’t get to see them often–it was a happy moment.

In December of 2012 I got engaged to a wonderful man, Paul Salyer. We share many similar passions and we are constantly making each other laugh :) I am lucky he picked me!

How we met:

Paul and I had both been users of Instagram, a popular photo sharing application. By browsing through “liked” photos of those that he “followed,” Paul came across a photo of me to which he thought (in his exact words) “This is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my entire life.”

Upon looking at this picture, Paul “followed” my account and began to look at the pictures I shared about my runs, organic food, outdoors activities, etc. I checked out his account after noticing that he “followed” me and noticed immediately his incredible good looks and enthusiasm for the outdoors & hiking. For a while we kept up with each others’ photos, “liking” each others photos and occasionally commenting.

I can’t explain or put my finger on what triggered it, but I decided one day to bolding ask him for his e-mail. I just felt strongly compelled to know more about him. He wrote back with his email and I didn’t waste any time in writing him.

We hit it off over e-mail immediately. After several e-mails, I was anxious to speak to him on the phone for the first time. This was another leap of faith, as I am not a “phone person”. What can I say, it just felt right from the get-go.

After the first time we spoke on the phone, I knew that was the end of life as I knew it. He was so easy to talk to. We just clicked. We had so much in common and so much we both enjoyed talking about.

We were so enamored with each other at that point and had yet to meet in person for the first time. The electricity in the airport when he flew to meet me was palpable. He was so devastatingly handsome! I was all about Paul.

Months later he proposed to me at the exact spot in the Indianapolis Airport that we first met in person. It was a dream. He got an applause from some strangers that were on-lookers. :)

Now we are happily engaged and enjoying every day! Our wedding is about 6 months away and I could not feel luckier nor more excited to marry this phenomenal man. I suppose we have Instagram to thank!

As an athlete, I’ve always had a burning desire to reach my maximum potential physically. This drove me to learn about the most beneficial things to put into my body. Along the way, I’ve discovered that what you put onto your body (cleansers, shampoos, soaps, conditioners, etc) also impacts how your body functions. Once I became more aware of what I put into my body, there was no turning back. A lot of habits were immediately out the window because I could not knowingly keep doing that damage to my body (i.e. drinking sodas, eating lots of empty calories with no nutritional value, consuming all kinds of preservatives in packaged foods). This was the spark that started this mission I’m on: to run on organic fuel. Along the way, I enjoy helping others learn what I have, which will ultimately help us all to become healthier individuals.

I owe it to my parents–surely–for being such great examples for me to follow. They’ve always encouraged me to be the best athlete/healthiest individual I can be–which lead me to discovering the coolest products and recipes to get me there. You certainly have helped that, too!
