If you guys follow me on instagram, you’ve already seen how much time I spend doing Crossfit and tearing apart my muscles on the daily (gimme. that. protein!).
In addition to that, I’ve recently been learning about the importance of rotating what you’re eating (basically not eating the same thing all the time) to avoid developing food sensitivities. An example of this would be consuming almond everything, everyday (almond milk, almond butter, almond flour), it’s likely that you will then find you become sensitive to almond after a while.
This can be the case for proteins and other foods you eat a lot of. Every body is different, but for me, I’m trying this approach and I’m liking it right now.
On rotating proteins…
Like we just got into, too much of anything isn’t going to be super awesome for you (and may encourage certain food intolerances, meanwhile), so i’m trying a rotation with protein powders to dodge this.
I was STOKED to hear from ROO Nutrition. (we have the same name!!!! sorta). I’ve been adding their whey protein powder into my daily post-workout (sometimes intra workout) shake. It’s super clean + organic: very cool. The texture if fluffy and light. When you shake + combine it with a plant based milk in a blender bottle, it makes such a delicous + filling + smooth + desserty.
I haven’t done whey in while, but after 10 weeks of food elimination, I found that my dairy sensitivity went away along with the heavy metals that I detoxed out of my system (heavy metal toxicity and food sensitivities are often linked). Though whey is free of lactose, i just chose to stay away since it is a derivative of dairy.
That has certainly been my experience with ROO’s protein so far.
I’ve been drinking plant based protein for so long that i forgot how good whey tastes. The other days, I’m rotating the following proteins into the mix: sacha inchi, pea, brown rice, hemp, casein and beef bone broth protein. When it’s whey day in my protein rotation I get excited! It’s so delicious.
