I have been lucky enough to try some Annmarie Gianni Organic Skin Care product samples in the past and absolutely loved them! I was amazed at the purity of the products & how much my skin loved them. You can check out that review here.
This little set-up that they sent me is SO neat. Not only do you feel like you’re creating your own makeup, but the oil provided is pure, moisturizing and soothing to skin.
I’m not a huge make-up wearer, but I do value having an organic foundation that I can apply to my skin to even out my sunspots and redness on the days I work out of the house. The best part about makeup with no crappy ingredients is that I can fall asleep in this makeup and I don’t have a breakout the next day. I do, however, always make a habit of cleaning my face before bed (With a pure, organic oil) so that I’m fresh faced and my skin can breathe overnight.
The tone that these minerals provide (when mixed with the oil) is perfect for my skin. They have just the right amount of a natural glowy look that they do not make your skin look completely matte.
I will say this, my facial skin tends to get very dark during the warm summer months when I am in the sun. For those months, I use the Olive & Honey minerals more, whereas in the winter, the Pearl & Sand minerals are a better fit. I recommend keeping a “batch” of the darker and the lighter foundation mix on hand so that on any given day, you can match your complexion. Generally speaking, if the foundation matches your neck color, it will blend the best and look the most natural (or at least that’s the case with me).
I have had NO issues with skin irritation. I can’t think of a bad thing to about this mineral makeup. Annmarie has a truly beautiful line of skin care products and now clean cosmetics! If you’ve been looking to clean up your skincare and beauty routine, start here.

Have you heard of this? Bulletproof coffee is becoming increasingly more prevalent–as it should. Without diving-head-first into the boat loads of science behind these ingredients and the synergy that exists between them, I’ll give you the…
Semi-basic run down for why bulletproof coffee can take your coffee routine to the next level & a few tips on making your own:
- Improves your mental clarity
- Slows the assimilation of caffeine and fats in your body, making them more filling & giving you sustained energy versus just a quick boost.
- Coupling the coffee with fats like grass fed butter, MCT oil (you can also use palm oil or coconut oil) improves the satiating effect of the drink and the natural caffeine content of the coffee bean helps make the fatty acids more readily available for absorption and energy use in the body.
- Laird describes this robust drink as one that will give you “a whole new focus.”
- The presence of omega-3 fatty acids in the butter and oils help reduce inflammation in the body by decreasing triglyceride levels.
- Make sure to choose a coffee blend that is organic (preferably a dark or espresso roast, as those often contain less acid.
- You can make this completely vegan and dairy free just by using the MCT oil, coconut oil and/or palm oil.
My interest in bulletproof coffee has existed for a while now–initially prompted by this video by one of my main professional-athlete-inspirers (surfing legend, fitness & nutrition guru), Laird Hamilton.
My Recipe for Bulletproof Coffee:
(created with inspiration from many!)
No exact measuring here! Everything is approximate.
Half Tbsp grass-fed butter
Half Tbsp Brain Octane Oil
Half Tbsp Cacao Butter
Half Tbsp Cacao Powder
Half Tbsp Mushroom Powder
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Stevia Powder (or 2 drops of liquid stevia)
Instructions here are minimal:
- Simply combine all ingredients (sans coffee) in your coffee cup.
- Brew your coffee as usual, separately.
- When finished, pour the hot coffee into your cup to combine all of the ingredients.
- The heat from the coffee will liquify the oils and help everything to combine.
- Stir & ENJOY!
I’ve loaded up that list with the links to all of the products that I used.
Also, it’s just worth mentioning that I drink this is the morning in place of a breakfast. Lately, I’ve been practicing intermittent fasting (only liquids until 11amish, then eating from about 11am-7pm) paired with a ketogenic approach to eating. I’m not counting macros right now, but I mindfully to good sources of fat for energy and then an adequate (filling) amount of protein.
Have you ever made your own bulletproof coffee? I’d love to hear about it. Happy Brewing!

“This Australian tea tree relative offers the protecting power of tea tree with an uplifting aroma similar to lemon. The aromatherapy effects of its lemony-sweet citral and citronellol constituents have earned it the nickname “happy oil.” Lemon tea tree’s purifying properties make it ideal for air diffusion and homemade cleaning products.”
“This Australian tea tree relative, also known as rosalina, matches the purifying strength of tea tree and the soothing gentleness of lavender. It contains soothingly sweet and oral aroma constituents without the potently medicinal aroma of tea tree. Lavender tea tree’s soothing properties make it ideal for air diffusion and your skin care needs.”
“Cold-pressed from the seeds of the tropical castor plant, castor oil has a light, pale yellow appearance. It is known for preserving moisture while its fatty acids leave the skin feeling nourished.”
“Sourced from non-GMO seeds (primarily soy), vegetable glycerin is the non-fatty component of vegetable oils. It is a clear, odorless liquid with powerful moisture-attracting properties and is a common ingredient used in formulating natural soaps, creams and lotions. ”
Aura Cacia is one of just a few go-to aromatherapy brands I look to for essential oils and carrier oils. Their quality is exquisite; and I love that I can find Aura Cacia products at my local health food stores like Natural Grocers or Whole Foods.
There is a myriad of ways that essential oils can be used. I can’t possibly list them all out here, but you can take a look at a few of my recipes in which I use essential oils:
I have been using the lemon tea tree and lavender tea tree essential oils in my laundry, in a pre-vacuuming baking soda deodorizer mix and in a facial toning mist. Synthetic fragrance cannot even come close to the pure freshness of essential oils. Using the real deal makes all the difference in the world–especially in regards to skin care.
I am still trying to come up with ways to use the vegetable glycerin. I’ve done a little bit of research–and it looks like a great ingredient to use in soap and moisturizers (which I will dive into, eventually). I’ve contemplated using it as a base for a homemade bug spray or a homemade perfume. I’ll update this post with more ideas as they come!
The castor oil has been the mainstay of my nightly beauty routine. Because it has been recommended for use to encourage hair growth, I’ve been applying it to my lashes and to my eyebrows eyery night before bed. I’ve seen slight improvements over several weeks, as I’ve also made a conscious effort to put down the tweezers, so as to let my brows grow freely and fill in a bit. Castor oil can be used in a bunch of other ways in regards to skin care. Can’t wait to discover more uses!
Aura Cacia will remain in my top favorites with their commitment to fantastic, organic, high-quality ingredients. I’ve truly enjoyed using these products and I’ve certainly smelt incredible in the process. (my house, too!)
