Tea Game on FLEEK: Teatulia Organic Neem + Tulsi + Black Tea Review

Teatulia Organic Tea

Overall Rating: 5-stars

About Teatulia:

“We are delighted to introduce our range of twenty organic Teatulia teas, each offering a unique flavor profile, with one or more that will satisfy every palate.

Our totally unique packaging communicates Teatulia’s sustainability message: compostable cannisters, labels made from post-consumer paper, water-based inks & dyes and biodegradable silken pyramids conveniently house our exquisite organic whole-leaf teas.

SINGLE-GARDEN DIRECT

All Teatulia Teas come directly to you from the first USDA-certified Organic tea garden in Bangladesh. No middleman, no long-term warehousing and no waiting around to be bulk-blended by a third-party trader. What does this mean to you? Fresh, delicious, single-garden purity.

MORE ORGANIC THAN ORGANIC

Teatulia’s mission is to sustain the land and the people while producing top-quality organic tea.

Established on virgin soil and grown following Masanobu Fukuoka’s “natural farming” method, Teatulia is the only tea garden in Bangladesh to be USDA certified organic and the only garden we know of that has approached tea cultivation this way.

At Teatulia we:

Do virtually no tilling, weeding, etc.

Develop the soil with cover crops and mulch

Utilize water bodies & herbal shade trees to restore the eco-balance to the area

Use only natural pest & weed controls

Nourish the land with bio-fertilizers

Protect wildlife

Process the tea in bio-gas plants

SUSTAINABLE

Yes, it’s Organic. But that’s just the beginning. Our approach to farming is truly revolutionary and very different from what any other tea-grower is doing (to our knowledge). In the Teatulia gardens, we have implemented “natural farming” practices espoused by the Japanese Master Masanobu Fukuoka, resulting in a closed-loop eco and social system. We use no pesticides, machinery or unnatural irrigation in the cultivation of our teas – we trust mother nature to establish the perfect balance. Consequently, eight years since its inception, our “virgin” garden, developed on fallow land, is now a thriving ecosystem teeming with once endangered Flora and Fauna.”

My Experience:

You guys, I’m pretty hyped on tea right now. So, here’s another Teatulia experience I’d like to share with you. I’m thankful to be an ambassador for this brand (just a fancy way of saying–I genuinely love what they are doing and want more people to know about them).

Here’s what makes this teas different and why you would look to them to ramp up your health:

Neem:

Teeth + Gum Health + Overall Cleansing

Detoxing and cleansing are two words that we’ve all heard at some point. They are crucial to overall health because a clean body is a thriving body. A body that accrued a toxic build up will experience slacking performance across the board. This can manifest itself in poor sleep, low energy, issues with integumentary system (hair + skin + nails), moodiness and chronic illness. The upside is that if you regularly perform detoxifying + cleansing protocols (like drinking this tea), you can prevent a lot of that and calibrate your body to be a beaming conglomerate of bumping energy.

Tulsi:

Adaptogen (Helps body cope with stress)

Stressors surround us every. single. day. What we CAN control is how beefy we make our immune response + body’s resiliency in order to deal with this stress. Pretty cool that we can put things into our body that help diminish the negative effects of stress.

Black Tea

Brain Function + Memory

Commonly and anciently (sure, that’s a word), black tea is used as the base for brewing kombucha, a fermented + naturally effervescent tea that aids digestions and boasts probiotics and gut-healing benefits.

Black tea is neat because it ramps up + stimulates brain function and contains half the amount of caffeine than a cup of coffee. This makes it the perfect compliment to that morning cup of coffee (think: mid-day tea break!)

Drinking these teas makes me feel: Naturally energized + balanced + detoxified + clean inside + ready to perform + peppy. Yep. Gimme mo-of-that!

Their instagram account is my particular favorite; you can find them @teatuliateas!

Moringa

About:

“Native to India, Moringa has been used worldwide to combat malnutrition. It is a nutritionally complex whole food naturally abundant in vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Daily use of Moringa can help to restore your imbalances, add concentrated superfood nutrition to your diet and help you to consume the recommended 6-10 servings of vegetables per day.

Moringa is considered one of the most complete, nutrientdense plants on Earth. Its leaves have been eaten for thousands of years as a superfood nutritional supplement. Containing over 90 nutrients, 46 antioxidants and abundant minerals, Moringa is often used to combat malnutrition in impoverished countries.

Gram for gram, Moringa contains more B12 than steak, more vitamin A than eggs, and more calcium than milk – this tree’s tiny leaves are big on nutrition.

Moringa leaves, often eaten as a vegetable, contain a such a potent profile of important minerals, trace minerals, protein, vitamins, beta-carotene, Vitamin C, all essential amino acids and various phenolics including quercetin and kaempferol that it truly qualifies for the title: Superfood. Its antioxidant polyphenols detox and protect the liver, boost immunity via several mechanisms, and support healthy blood sugar and lipids.

Neem

About:

In India, a rich history surrounds the neem tree – A tree whose many uses and ability to flourish in tough growing conditions inspired its botanical name, Azadirachta indica which translates to “The free tree of India.”

neemleaves.jpg

Neem is used internally to purify the body, externally to beautify the body, and therapeutically to soothe and heal the body inside and out. We blend the highest quality, organically grown Neem leaves, twigs, and flowers to create this purifying supplement. Traditionally used to help soothes skin irritations and support oral hygiene, Neem is also renowned for its support of healthy, radiant skin, hair, and nails. It is excellent when combined with Turmeric Formula.

Neem, perhaps the best responsible alternative to Goldenseal, is renown for millennia as a veritable pharmacy with every aspect of this 50 foot tall tree capable of offering a wealth of health.

In many cultures Neem  is highly regarded as a source of profound medicine, in fact ancient legends in India elevate it to the status of being a portal to heaven. It is the main cold catabolic bitter tonic used in several cultures and because it has molecules in it that can mimic the hormones of insects and microbes it has a broad range of anti-pest applications. At least 400 million people consume Neem every single day!

All in one!

Neem benefits parallel the actions of: bitters, tea tree, garlic, and aloe.”

My Thoughts:

“Superfoods” are a very exciting topic for me. If you ask me, that word is used perhaps too often. To me, (in my own words, loosely described) superfoods are nutrient-packed foods that I eat purely because of the benefits they provide to my body. I view them as real food “multivitamins.” The most practical way I’ve devised to incorporate superfoods into my daily diet is to whip up a superfood drink in a blender bottle, every morning.

In this concoction, I include two of Organic India’s goodies: moringa and turmeric powder. Since the neem is in capsule form, I take it separately with some morning vitamins.

So, along with the moringa (about a teaspoon) and turmeric (about 1 tablespoon), I combine cacao and cinnamon. The healing powers of all of these ingredients makes me feel that I have super powers 🙂

Making this routine a staple in my morning routine allows me to splurge occasionally without guilt–since I know that I’m always getting a hefty dose of goodness in the morning. I’m all about percentage; the majority of the time I eat well (lots of organic & raw food), the rest of the time, I don’t obsess, I just aim to eat sensibly.

I digress–back to Organic India. Basically these products appear to be amongst the best (quality-wise) that you can get as far as herbs and spices go. They are grown organically, utilizing biodynamic agriculture & farming methods (specific crop rotation, adding homeopathic compounds to the soil) and there are no indications that these herbs and spices have been heated (still inquiring about this to be sure).

I love the natural energy and vitality boost that I get from superfoods like turmeric, moringa and neem. I can definitely tell a difference when I’m not in my routine of drinking them everyday. Not only can I feel the energy, but having this superfood routine creates a domino effect throughout my day. One healthy choice often snowballs into many healthy choices throughout the day. When you feel what makes your body truly feel good, you want to keep doing those things.

The “list” of benefits that these plants provide is abundant, however, my two favorites are that they promote clear skin and reduce inflammation in the body. The only speakable ailment I ever endure is severe menstrual cramps. Because of that, I’m always looking to increase my alkalizing foods intake and decrease my acidic foods intake. I try to do as much natural healing as possible & am always open to incorporating new dietary and supplementation tweaks to help myself. Turmeric, neem and moringa all help me accomplish this.

Mind you, these are also super easy to throw into a smoothie! Combining them with a spread of fruits and veggies will help mask the pungent flavor of the turmeric and the greenness of the moringa.

I’m happy to have discovered Organic India and look forward to trying their other health-promoting products!

Just Neem Organic Skin Care Review

Just Neem Skin Care

Overall Rating: 3 Stars

Wind & Sea Soap

Just Neem’s Description:

“Our ultimate bestselling scent is now available in an organic Neem soap made with organic oils! Wind & Sea Neem soap is made with a blend of powerful organic oils, rich antioxidants, Aloe Vera, and therapeutic Neem leaves. Ingredients and a fascinating combination of sweet and clean smelling fragrance oils work together to soothe and heal skin and senses. Wind & Sea Neem soap is a perfect bar for face and body! No Sulfates, Parabens, or Phthalates. Gluten free.

Ingredients:

Certified Organic Palm and Coconut Oil, Purified Water, Glycerin, Sorbitol, Neem, Aloe Vera, Essential and Fragrance Oils.”

My Description & Thoughts:

I got to try a bundle of Just Neem products a few weeks ago that were a bit different than this soap in that they did not contain organic ingredients–were just free of harsh parabens, sulfates, etc. You can read that review here.

Having organic palm and coconut oil is a better base than the soap I tried before that was classified at “natural.” However, I still wish all of these ingredients were organic. It frustrates me a bit, frankly, that companies that are obviously ingredient conscious don’t go the extra mile to make sure that every ingredient they use is organic, yet they market the word “organic” with some of their products.

All of that said, this soap smells very nice and pleasant. I have it by my kitchen sink right now in my “soap rotation.” It is very tough on oil and grime on hands–almost too tough, as it dries out my hands if I lather up with too much of it. I would prefer it to be a bit more moisturizing.

I’d recommend this soap to someone looking for a slightly above average natural soap that provides a very thorough clean.

Just Neem’s Description:

Ingredients:

Aqua, Illite (French Clay), Helianthus Annus (Sunflower Oil), Azadirachta Indica (Neem), Cetearyl Alcohol & Ceteareth 20, Glycerin, Stearic Acid, Essential Oils, Phenoxyethanol & Caprylyl Glycol.”

My Description & Thoughts:

Thought this mask feels nice on my skin, isn’t messy compared to a lot of masks and is a unique product, I can’t get past the fact that I wish these ingredients were all organic. This mask doesn’t contain a single organic ingredient, which is just plain discouraging to me.

I so badly wish that Just Neem would make an all-organic version of this. I would be in line to get it. I believe the idea and plants used in this mask are a neat idea that I haven’t seen before in a skin care product, they just are not delivered in an organic manner.

I’d recommend this to anyone wanting to take a step up from the mask they bought at the drug store, as it is free of a lot of harsh chemicals and does perform well as far as making skin feel clarified. I would not recommend this mask, though, to someone that is looking for an all organic mask.
